Dr Kate Guest

Chartered Counselling Psychologist (CPsychol)

Profile

Therapy gives you the opportunity to talk in depth about difficulties and emotions you may be experiencing. Talking to friends and family is not always easy and often we are left feeling alone and stuck. Gaining a greater insight into your problems can be empowering and allows you to overcome difficulties and find new ways of thinking and doing things.

I am a qualified Counselling Psychologist and Chartered member The British Psychological Society and as such abide by their codes of practice and ethics.

I currently practice in Cheltenham (The Regency Practice) and Worcester (Worcester Therapy Group) and also work with a leading childhood bereavement charity providing support to children and their families. I also have extensive experience of working within the NHS, providing cognitive behavioural therapy and psychotherapy for individuals as well as psycho-educational group training.

My practice involves short, medium and long term treatment, and I work with a range of issues and circumstances that impact a person’s life, including -

  • Depression
  • Severe anxiety
  • Loss and bereavement
  • Low self-esteem
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
  • Panic attacks
  • Phobias
  • Difficult Relationships
  • Post Traumatic Events
  • Estrangement
  • Long Term Illness
  • Wanting to find a new direction in life...

My working style

I provide a safe and supportive environment for you to talk about what is troubling you, make sense of the issues you are facing and look at more effective ways of dealing with future challenges.

Research suggests that personal change and development is more likely to occur when a strong therapeutic relationship has been formed between client and therapist. I take an integrative and relational approach to my work and draw on a range of therapeutic approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), relational psychodynamic therapy and person-centred therapy.

Sessions and Fees

My fee is £60.00 and each session lasts 50 minutes. The number of sessions required will be discussed at our initial meeting.
